Each year, 9000 New Zealanders have a stroke - that's one every hour!

Run a fundraising event from now till the end of June, as part of our "BEANIE UP" campaign to support stroke survivors. Help us raise vital funds for the critical services we provide stroke survivors, and their families/whānau and carers.

There are many ways you can get involved...

You can:

  • Set up an event today and get family, friends, and colleagues to support

Your workplace can:

  • Hold a business lunch or workplace drinks and charge for entry
  • Get teams to wear a beanie to work for a donation
  • Using the Stroke Foundation as a charity partner for your own corporate event

If you are a school, you can:

  • Hold a 'Wear a Beanie Day' event in June for a gold coin donation to support stroke survivors

Get as creative as you like and post the pics on social media - #beanieup

You can also buy one of our special beanies for just $10 (+postage) at beanieup.co.nz

Stroke Foundation of New Zealand

Stroke is New Zealand’s second single biggest killer and the leading cause of serious adult disability. Each year, approximately 9,000 Kiwis have a stroke - that’s one every hour! And new research shows us that within the next decade this is projected to rise by 40%. The Stroke Foundation is the only national charity in New Zealand focused on the prevention of and recovery from stroke. For almost 40 years we have actively promoted ways to avoid stroke and dedicated ourselves to working closely with stroke survivors across the country. New Zealanders' generosity will enable us to help thousands of stroke survivors this year; providing them with critical services to ensure the best possible outcomes - not just for themselves, but also their family/whānau and carers too. Three quarters of strokes are preventable, so we will continue our vital awareness campaigns and health promotion programmes - saving thousands of lives. Stroke Foundation of New Zealand is a registered charity under the Charities Act 2005, registration number CC49490.
