Wear Our Heart on Your Sleeve

and Cycle to support Heart Children NZ

Heart Children NZ is the official charity of the Contact Lake Taupo Cycle Challenge. As a participant in this prestigous event, Heart Children New Zealand would love you to wear our heart on your sleeve and cycle to help provide life long support to children and families living with the daily challenges of a childhood heart condition.

Setting up an online fundraising page for Heart Children NZ is simple - a few clicks, a small amount of information, and you're away.

Once you have set up your page, email the link to your friends and family, colleagues and contacts – anyone anywhere in the world who might wish to help you pedal your way round the lake in support of heart kids. They can make donations online using an easy, safe, and secure credit card facility, and each donation will show on your page, showing the total you have raised.

What's in it for me?

As well as knowing that you are helping to provide lifelong support to the many New Zealand families living with the challenges of a congenital heart defect or acquired childhood heart disease, every $250 you raise online will put you in the draw to win one of four fantastic donated prizes.

You can fundraise for Heart Children NZ as an individual or as a team, with space to upload photos and a personal message to your sponsors.

The money you raise by cycling for Heart Children NZ will go directly to support children and families affected by childhood heart disease.

So show your support by wearing our heart on your sleeve at this year's Contact Lake Taupo Cycle Challenge and help us to help children affected by childhood heart disease. It’s bound to give you the extra drive you need during those long up hill legs and it may even inspire you to pedal a personal best!

We’ll be at the finishing line with spot prizes, looking out for those riders wearing our hearts.

Every week in New Zealand, 12 babies are born with a heart defect. More children will acquire a heart defect as a result of Rheumatic Fever or Kawasaki Disease. There is not a day goes by that a child does not undergo open heart surgery at Auckland’s Paediatric Heart Unit. For many of these children having a heart defect means extended and regular hospital stays for corrective surgery and procedures, ongoing medication, tests and sometimes further complications.

Heart Children NZ is the only organisation in New Zealand dedicated to providing life long support for all those affected by the world's most common birth defect. We provide practical assistance, specialised equipment, education, information and family support to heart children and their families, both in the hospital environment and when they return home. Charity Registration Number CC20102.
