Kids@Heart Ride has now finished

26 Nov 2011

The Kids@Heart Ride is a 5km bike ride which is part of the Lake Taupo Cycle Challenge. In fact, it’s the final 5kms of the 160km cycle around the lake.

The ride is open to all kids up to 10 years old who have a parent riding in one of the other events, and every year there are a very special group of kids who ride. These are heart kids. We call them our kids@Heart. They are children who were either born with a congenital heart condition, or acquired a heart defect as a result of illness.

For some kids in this ride, 5kms isn’t far, and is easy. For others, like these kids@Heart, riding 5kms is a huge achievement, and often one that their parents thought might never happen.

Heart Riders are kids like you, some have a heart condition, some don’t, but all Heart Riders share a common bond - they’re helping @Heart to provide much-needed support and services to heart families all over New Zealand.
