No Child Should Die for Lack of Oxygen

The 3rd annual ANZ Fiji 500 event will see riders cycling around Fiji covering over 500kms on bike in an effort to raise funds towards the Cure Kids Fiji Oxygen Project.

Oxygen is a lifesaving treatment for many severe illnesses in children, many of which are leading causes of death in Fiji.

Currently Fiji’s gas cylinders come from NZ, which is a very expensive exercise and results in the rationing of much needed Oxygen. The solar powered oxygen delivery systems we are fundraising to install throughout hospitals and health centres in Fiji are designed to take the ambient air, filter out the nitrogen and deliver 98% pure oxygen. Once installed, the oxygen delivery systems cost next to nothing to run, and provide almost unlimited oxygen supply. We currently have 3 systems installed and successfully operating at key centres throughout Fiji, and more soon to be installed.

This year’s ANZ Fiji 500 aims to raise enough funds to purchase 3 more units and is living proof that great challenges bring even greater rewards.

Cure Kids

Cure Kids’ vision is for healthier children, with a brighter future. We focus on raising funding to enable high-impact, New Zealand-based medical research to help save, extend and improve the lives of children diagnosed with serious life-impacting and life-limiting health conditions.
Cure Kids’ funding supports researchers across New Zealand whose work focuses on childhood cancers, inherited heart conditions, epilepsy, infectious diseases, cystic fibrosis, sudden unexpected death in infants (SUDI), stillbirth, burns as well as child and adolescent mental health – and many, many other areas of research.
As the largest charitable funder of child health research, we work hard to support the best research possible to make a measurable difference to the health and well-being of children in New Zealand. This is made possible by remarkable people like you who are willing to take on a challenge and raise funds for Cure Kids.
