Dine In For Pancreatic Cancer

Pancreatic cancers are diagnosed in 575 people each year (Ministry of Health, 2014). The five year survival rate is on average only 3 to 5%. The earlier the cancer is found the better life expectancy with up to 30% survival rate able to be achieved. More clinical research is urgently required to improve survival rates.

Next steps

Set up your own Dine In For Pancreatic Cancer by registering yourself first as a fundraiser then registering a team. Gut Cancer Foundation

Gut Cancer Foundation is dedicated to improving the outcomes for patients with a gastro-intestinal (GI) cancer. We aim to increase awareness of GI cancers and raise funds to support clinical research in New Zealand, focusing particularly on clinical trials.

GI cancer is the term used for the group of cancers that affect the digestive system, i.e. the oesophagus, stomach, liver, gall bladder and bile ducts, pancreas and bowel. It is collectively the most common form of cancer, with over 5,250 new cases diagnosed each year in New Zealand (Ministry of Heath, 2014).

To improve the survival rates of GI cancer, we must provide funding for clinical research. Unfortunately, there is a critical lack of financial support for GI cancer clinical trials in New Zealand. GCF seeks to fill this funding gap to ensure that patients in New Zealand have access to the best possible treatments.

With your help, we can kick cancer in the guts!
