Cure Kids Fiji

Cure Kids Fiji was launched in 2006 in partnership with New Zealand based charity Cure Kids, who were founded by Rotary 45 years ago. Since this launch, we have successfully raised millions of dollars which have been invested in child health initiatives in Fiji.

For the past six years, Cure Kids Fiji has focussed on preventing and improving outcomes for children living with rheumatic heart disease (RHD), a potentially life-threatening condition affecting one in 30 school-aged children in Fiji, which is among the highest rates in the world.

Through the support from founding parter AccorHotels, Fiji Water Foundation and NZAid, this life-saving work has recently developed into a national programme with the Fiji Ministry of Health, with thousands of young Fijians benefiting.

In addition to the RHD programme, we have funded and maintain critical medical equiptment in Neonatal and paediatric intensive care units in Lautoka, Nadi and Suva Hospitals.

The three most common causes of mortality in children in Fiji are pneumonia, drowning and RHD. Our focus for 2017 is to provide reliable oxygen to try and reduce the number of child fatalities from pneumonia.
